Raditya Dika Angkasa Putra Moerwani, well-known as Raditya Dika, is an actor, writer, producer, director and stand-up comedian from Indonesia. He was born on December 28, 1984, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Dika started his career as a blogger writing a diary about his daily life when studying in Adelaide, Australia in www.kambingjantan.com. His online diary was unexpectedly attracted many visitors so he decided to publish the diary into a novel entitled "Kambing Jantan: Sebuah Catatan Harian Pelajar Bodoh" (2005). The novel was best-selling and enthused by book fans because of his new writing style, which was considered humorous, fresh and unconventional. Regarding the popularity of the novel, many writers started to follow his style.
In 2006, Dika published his second novel "Cinta Brontosaurus" followed by his other novels, "Radikus Makankakus: Bukan Binatang Biasa" (2007), "Babi Ngesot" (2008), "Marmut Merah Jambu" (2010) dan "Manusia Setengah Salmon" (2011). He kept his humorous style in writing all his best-selling novels.
The popularity of Dika's novels has drawn interests of some producers to adapt them into movies. The producers even directly requested Dika to play the main cast as well as write the scripts. The first movie was "Kambing Jantan: The Movie" (2009), adapted from "Kambing Jantan: Sebuah Catatan Harian Pelajar Bodoh" (2005) novel, where Dika starred as himself. Following the success of the movie, his other novels, "Cinta Brontosaurus", "Manusia Setengah Salmon" and "Marmut Merah Jambu" were also filmed, most of which were about Dika's unsuccessful love life.
Raditya Dika is also a comic and considered to be one of the most influential comics who plays an important role in popularizing stand up comedy in Indonesia. He became a judge in Indonesian stand-up comedy academy in 2015.
